PC ports are making more sales than Sony initially anticipated. More first-party games to arrive on pc.
Sony’s financial report for the year 2022 gave us a glimpse of how well their PC strategy is going for them! The detailed reports show how the” others” category performs remarkably well.
The “others” category in the financial report refers to the combination of sales made through peripherals and first-party titles, excluding consoles. While 2021 was a regular year for Sony in the “others” department, 2022 blew everything off the table. The sales have almost doubled!
While it’s impossible to accurately state just how much of these sales are from PC ports, we can jot down a big number for it. 2022 was a big year for Sony, the publisher dished out multiple PC ports from popular titles to exuberant fans. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, The Last Of Us Part 1, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure are titles belonging to this amazing collection.
It seems that Sony seems to be doing remarkably well in everything except their Playstation stuff. The official statement by Sony states that they “ aim to continue creating new IP, rolling out catalog titles for PC, and strengthening live service development.”
Their official statement directly translates to, our PC titles are doing well and that we will continue to release more ports to satisfy our users and meet their needs. Therefore 2023 is going to be another awesome year for PC gamers as we can expect a handful more of those juicy Sony exclusives.
