Modern Warfare 2 Just Got Pay-2-Win

Activision has released a pay-to-win operator bundle for Modern Warfare 2. The game is already getting a lot of complaints regarding its state, and this might just cross the line.

Season 3 brought in a ton of new content for players. There were adjustments to the DMZ mode and unique game mechanics; even the rebreather showed its face in this update. However, along with the goodies came the trouble. Pay to win is a competitive gamer’s worst nightmare as it breaks the skill in-game, and Activision did just that.

The issue is that most items become pay-to-win out of chance. Maybe a character’s skin is too dark to see, making it the perfect choice for hardcore gamers to camouflage themselves stealthily. But that’s not the case here, as these items are blatantly straight-up pay-to-win. Textbook defined!

What are the items?

There are a few items in CoD’s storefront, but we have leaks that there are more pay-to-win items on the way. The Bomb Squad Operator bundle allows players to spawn into the game with a medium backpack. This addition lets players loot items quickly without worrying about bag space. And to make things worse, Activision has reduced the cooldown for this item from the regular 60 minutes to a mere 15, thus making it almost always available.

The worst is yet to come as news showcasing operator bundles allowing players to start their games with self-revive kits, UAVS, and even armor vests. These items aren’t even perishable, meaning operators can use them every game.
Players are already annoyed at the game’s battle pass, considering how difficult it is to level it up. The Twitter posts are just stopping, with players expressing their concerns and anger. Hopefully, Activation will feel these and make amends without killing their excellent game.
